As a test automation blogger and the author of 14 books on software testing, I have built a modest reputation over two decades. As a result, I regularly receive various requests from strangers—most often via LinkedIn. These include:

  • Requests for job referrals

  • Requests for feedback on papers or presentations
(I did this once, only to later realize the person merely wanted to borrow my name)

  • Requests for career or technical advice

  • Requests for mentoring on test automation and Continuous Testing

  • Requests to endorse products in exchange for money
    (I declined all)

  • …and so on.

Today, I received a particularly amusing one.
